Nenagh Toastmasters met on the 15th November in the Abbey Court hotel.  We invited the Roscrea Toastmasters to a pre-Christmas evening of poetry recitation and table topics.  Roscrea club have a number of indigenous poets who write very enlightening and inspiring poetry.  It was a great night of hilarity, laughter and fun.  As one Toastmaster put it, ‘For quick and effective relief for all our emotional ailments and ego boast, try a poem as however bad or good life is, some poet will have been there too’. Indeed, there was a great variety of poems from times past to contemporary writings.  We had a number of reflections too, coupled with numerous recitations of unknown poets origin.  There was keen competition among our men folk for the amusing recitation, the winner has yet to be announced!

Topics included ‘Concerns around disclosing your personal details online’, and a topic encouraging people to shop local now and for Christmas to help our local economy.  There was a lively discussion on shopping local to save local jobs, with the mantra being, ‘what goes around, comes around’!  After a tea and coffee party, we headed to the bar for light refreshments.
